Carbine Motorcycles Established 1896
Paying homage to what should be a Melbourne Icon
Built in Melbourne for Australian Conditions
The Carbine Motorcycle Company was originally formed as the Carbine Cycle Company in 1896 by Frank Stuart.
At the time Frank Stuart was the owner of Lincoln Stuart & Co, a Melbourne Men's Clothing Store and decided to enter into the cycle trade.
While initially a cycle manufacturer in 1901 the company began to import front drive Werner motor bicycles from England which were branded Carbine-Werner.
In 1902 the business moved to 284 Post Office Place in Melbourne where it began to sell the first of Carbine Minerva motorcycles.
In late 1913 the Carbine Cycle Company was sold to Turner Brothers where the name Carbine continued and in 1914 the second generation Carbine Motorcycles were born.
Carbine motorcycles continued to be sold in various guises until the ultimate demise of the Carbine name in circa 1922.
And now the name Carbine Motorcycles is reborn.........

William Ward
When William Ward with a wife and 11 children at home decided to "join up" we can only imagine that it was a trusty Carbine that took him safely to join the Number 5 Tunnellers.
Carbine Motorcycles
Simple, Safe, Reliable that was what the Carbine Motorcycle was known for.
Unprecedented Freedom
The time of Carbine Motorcycles was a time of adventure, it was the time of the motorcycle and the time of the motor car. Together they provided unfound freedom.
